Wonder Woman pilot turned down by NBC
Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN Entertainment) – Wonder Woman may not be able to see the light of day. NBC has turned down the “Wonder Woman” pilot from David E. Kelley and Warner Bros. TV after giving the show mixed reviews at the test screening.
The planned series was penned by Kelley (“Ally McBeal,” “Boston Legal”), giving the comic book character named Diana Prince an updated role as the CEO of a major conglomerate by day and a superhero by night.
Relatively unknown actress Adrienne Palicki, whose notable credit is a role in “Friday Night Lights,” has been given the role first made famous by Lynda Carter in the ’70s series.
However, it seems that the show has been given the ax even before it could debut on the small screen.
According to EW, NBC passed on the show after watching the pilot. It is still not known if Warner Bros. TV will try to shop the pilot to another network.
The much-buzzed show suffered severe criticism earlier this year when they first released photos of Palicki in a revamped costume. Instead of the hot pants worn by Carter and seen in comic books, the new Wonder Woman was seen in skin-tight shiny pants.
The new costume didn’t bode well with the fans. It was deemed “unpatriotic” because the American stars and stripes were nowhere to be found on the PVC pants.
It was given another makeover, this time the costume department made her pants less shiny, with the stars added onto the sides.
Ironically, Palicki was also set to appear in another comic book-based TV series that was canceled even before it hit the screen. She filmed the WB pilot “Aquaman” as the villainess Siren, but CW did not pick up the pilot.
