Update: First Miner Safely Rescued In Chile

Copiapo, Chile (AHN) – After spending 68 days trapped below the Earth, Florencio Avalos has been successfully rescued from a collapsed mine in Chile. Now, rescue workers will continue to bring 32 other trapped miners to the surface, one at a time.

A second rescuer has been sent into the mine, and a second miner has been placed in the special capsule for his ride to the surface. Now, each miner will take the trip in a carefully chosen order.

Each man will receive medial attention and spend several nights in a hospital as experts examine and study the unknown effects of spending so long trapped underground.
