WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) – Neil Barofsky, the special inspector general for the Troubled Asset Relief Program, said Monday he intends to resign from the post on March 30. Barofsky said in a letter to president Barack Obama that the $700 billion TARP program is “on its way to resolving its most significant and controversial loans and investments.” Christy Romero, SIGTARP’s deputy inspector general, will replace Barofsky and become acting TARP special inspector general.
