Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) – A second California company has begun recalling walnuts due to fears of salmonella.

Mojave Foods is recalling 60 packages of its El Guapo Nuez Entera made with walnuts that may contain salmonella. The products were sold in southern California and have a date code of 5527.

Last week, Aznar Nut asked the U.S. Foodservice to recall some of its products after tests showed them positive for salmonella.

The two companies receive nuts from the same supplier, Visalia-based Atlas Walnut.

No one has fallen ill from the products but customers are advised to discard walnuts they suspect to be part of the recall.

Salmonella can cause fatal infections in children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms of salmonella infectoin include fever, diarrhea and vomiting.
