Paris Hilton sued for not returning borrowed blings
New York, NY, United States (AHN Entertainment) – Paris Hilton is being sued for not returning borrowed jewelry amounting to $60,000. Munich-based insurance Allianz Global claims the hotel heiress has recovered the pieces of jewelry stolen from her house, but still has not returned the gems.
High-end jeweler Damiani loaned her the expensive baubles in 2007 to wear for public appearances. As part of the loan deal, Hilton must keep the valuables in a safe or vault when she wasn’t wearing them in public.
But in December 2008, Hilton’s home was burgled by the infamous Hollywood Bling Ring, which targeted the homes of young Hollywood stars, and the said jewelry pieces were stolen along with Hilton’s other belongings.
The police eventually recovered the items and the jewelry were return to Hilton.
Allianz claims in its suit, filed in New York, that Hilton kept the jewelry and ignored requests to return it. The insurance giant also said that, contrary to the loan agreement, Hilton left the jewelry in a closet and not in a safe when the robbery was held.
Hilton’s rep cried foul on Allianz’s suit, telling E! News, “We only just received the complaint but it is clear that it is not based on fact. Among other things, nobody from the Hilton team ever told the insurance company that the Damiani items that were stolen were returned.”
“We are not aware of any of the Damiani items being recovered by the police, only costume jewelry was recovered.”
