Kate Moss And British Retailer Topshop Part Ways

Stephanie Sims – AHN Entertainment Reporter

London, England, United Kingdom (AHN) – Kate Moss and Topshop are parting ways. The three-year design partnership will come to an end this month, October, with Moss’ final collection for the store.

According to Vogue.com, she will provide a series of smaller capsule collections to Topshop going forward.

“We’ve honed it down to a smaller base,” says Arcadia boss Sir Philip Green. “[Moss has] done brilliantly well, but to produce these collections takes time, real time. We thought it would be better to go forward with something smaller. That’s a better way forward.”

Topshop plans on re-launching a selection of Moss’ most popular design pieces from her first collection followed by smaller, capsule ranges of about 12 to 15 pieces two to three times a year.

Reportedly, there are no hard feelings.

In other news, Green was asked to advise the U.K. government on how to eradicate waste. Green found that government spending is inefficient, all while getting ready to launch Topshop in Chicago next year.

“The conclusion of this review is clear – credit rating and scale in virtually every department has not been used to make government spending efficient,” Green told Vogue.com. “There is no reason why the government should not be as efficient as any good business.”

Green published his report today, which will show the government how it can save £6 million by eliminating empty office space, cutting taxpayer-funded mobile phones and Blackberries and decreasing the amount spent on travel, stationary and office supplies.
