iPhone Alarm Clock Glitch Causes Europeans To Be Late for Work
London, United Kingdom (AHN) – An iPhone operating system glitch caused many Europeans to oversleep an hour Monday morning and turn up late to work. iOS 4.1 users in Britain reported their alarm clocks failed to account for the end of Daylight Savings Time.
Their phones did in fact adjust properly back an hour at 2 a.m. Monday morning. However their reoccurring alarm clock was still running on the original time. The resulting side effect was their alarms went off an hour too late.
This bug was first reported a month ago by users in Australia and New Zealand. Apple was apparently aware of the glitch and had planned to resolve it in an upcoming software update. iPhone users are now being advised to delete all recurring alarms and create new alarm alerts.
Daylight Savings Time ends in the U.S. and Canada is at 2 a.m. next Sunday, November 7.
