American star middie Michael Bradley heads to Aston Villa via loan
Birmingham, England, United Kingdom (AHN Sports) – U.S. midfielder Michael Bradley will be going to the English Premier League, according to reports. Bradley will complete his season with Aston Villa, who received the player on loan from Borussia Moenchengladbach, which has struggled this season.
The transaction hushes speculation that Bradley would go to EPL’s Sunderland, but now the American will get a new lease, joining a team at Villa that has rejuvenated since 26-year-old Darren Bent’s arrival. He will play with fellow countrymen Eric Lichaj and Brad Friedel.
Bradley, who had a breakout year with team US during the 2010 World Cup, will have one year left on his Gladbach contract.
Bradley played solidly all year posting three goals and three assists in 19 games with Gladbach. However this will be his fourth team since he was drafted by MetroStars (MLS) in 2004.
He was later sold to Heerenveen after two seasons with the MetroStars and was the youngest MLS player ever to be sold.
Bradley moved to Moenchengladbach in 2008 where he was a starter for much of his stay with the squad.
